Hi

Through a bit research, I have found oppo blu ray player could be controled by beo 4 remote. However, I don't have a beovision or beosystem. My question is can I still use beo 4 to control oppo player? How can I make this possible, do i need to buy an IR eye?

Btw, would beo 4 has full control of oppo player

Thanks

Hello,

I think you will find that the OPPO player can only be controlled by the BEO4 via a B&O TV  (if OPPO 95 is in the PUC list). It is very unlikely to support BEO4 control directly.

I've had a quick look at the OPPO website and I can see they give you lots of information and codes for remote control. They provide an .XLS file that has the codes. This will enable you (with some programming input) to use a BEO5 without a B&O TV but not the BEO4.

Hello Stoobietoo

Thanks for your reply. So I assume the beo5 or beo6 can be programed if I got the specific XLS files but not the beo4, am I right?

Also, is there a guide to show how to program beo5 or beo6? I am not a programming guy, is it easy to do?

Yes the BEO5/6 can be programmed using the data from the XLS file but it needs to be put into an XML file.

I don't know how that side all works. Keith Saunders on here is the best person to answer that for you.I think he uses the Pronto HEX codes to make the correct XML file and I see that the OPPO XLS file contains the Pronto HEX codes.

You cannot program a BEO4 - The BEO5/6 can be programmed do B&O codes and non B&O codes, the BEO4 does B&O codes only, but the PUC in the TV translates the codes to non B&O codes.

Look here for the BEO5/6 FAQ site. It is very useful, but a little out of date in some sections.

There is a programming guide built into the programming tool, but also if I remember, a member on this site did an excellent guide, but I cannot remember who.

You can program BEO5/6 yourself but it takes a lot of patience. It is not "easy" but once you know how it is not too difficult. You will find lots people on here are very willing to help.
