Hello everyone,

I have just bought a pair of Beovox 1600 (6228) speakers in amazing condition (see the google link for pictures, the one with the grill open is from the internet, to illustrate the type of drivers installed in my speakers, don't have the tools at hand now to safely open the grills for photos). I bought them on ebay for... 29EUR, the seller frankly admitted that he/she did not test the speakers and was selling them "as is". In this case "as is" turned out to be amazing.

They sound very nice for such compact speakers; in fact, the moment I heard them play I was instantly teleported some 35 years back, when I was a music hungry kid listening to vinyl records for hours while the rest of the family were asleep at night:). all the expensive speakers I had in later years never really brought back this feeling.

Given the immaculate external condition, I would like to do my best to maintain the speakers in best shape for years to come, so I figured that Beoworld is the right place to ask questions:)

First one - are these particular woofers (see image in link above) at risk of magnet failure or was it the problem mainly with P series of speakers? I have not opened the boxes yet, so cannot say anything about their inner condition. Which leads me to the second question - provided that everything works alright - is there any reason to try and open the boxes for some "maintenance"? This would be done by a qualified person seriously involved in restoration of vintage audio equipment, but is it really feasible if the speakers look and sound great?

The sole problem these speakers seem to have - the original B&O badges (B&O Beovox 1600) are missing, so in case someone has two of these for sale - please drop me a line.

Thanks in advance for your comments or suggestions.
