ARCHIVED FORUM -- March 2012 to February 2022READ ONLY FORUM
This is the second Archived Forum which was active between 1st March 2012 and 23rd February 2022
Speaking personally, apart from the odd glitch (like one missing popular smiley), I think the new forum is a tremendous success. I now like the discussion/ question options and the upload/response times are much better when posting.
Keith has done a great job with everyone else in his commissioning team.
(I have deliberately not posted on the 'Thoughts on the New Forum' thread as it seems to contain too much initial over-reaction which will moderate with time..........(maybe!))

I absolutely agree to that. Now that the problems with searching the archived threads has been solved, it's great to have the new forum.

I now have no issues with it whatsoever. The only concern for me is that some regular users have stopped posting. Hopefully they come back.
For me, I have http://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/13.aspx bookmarked as the forum destination, which means I don't have to go navigating around sub-forums.
I think it's fine!
The graphic theme is not perfect, but I think it's good enough.
I really like that we now can see if the threadstarter's problem has been solved etc, and I enjoy finally being able to post using Safari without having to insert html-tags. :)
What I like the most is that the performance finally is ok, now Beoworld is just as fast as the other forums that I visit! Finally :)
There are still some features that I miss in this forum software, such as a "go to first unread post in this thread" button - a _very_ useful feature that the more wellknown forum systems have had since day one. Other than that, great job!

You do have some useful feature for filtering which each member can set to their own requirements.
At the top of the "Forums" home page you have what you see below which is linked to your account.
Then when you go into any forum such as "General" you have the ability to define and save your own filtering options as shown below
Regards Keith....
Thank you Keith! However, it doesn't really solve my problem.
This is what I'm looking for, a small link next to each thread title - in this example the blue circular icon to the left of some of the thread titles(and the fact that the titles are in bold) indicates that there are unread posts in that thread. If I click this little round icon, I'll get to the first unread post in that thread. No scrolling etc.
This particular screendump is from a typical Vbulletin forum, using the "unread posts" view (similar to http://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/default.aspx?Sort=UnReadOnly&PageIndex=1). In this example I have already read all posts in the 2nd and fifth threads, hence the un-bold text and the missing round icon. The little green circle with a white arrow next to the second and the fifth thread indicates that I have posted in that thread, another nice function. I also like the last column which shows in which subforum each thread is in.

Does this link technique get you most of the way there ?

I use it exclusively ... it is the only way I process the forums :-)
BeoNut since '75
Still getting used to the new forum, particularly as I have not had much time to devote to Beoworld lately. However, I seem to have lost my avatar during the transition. How do I get it back? Do I simply upload it again [if I can remember how I did it the first time]?
Just noticed that if I click on "Friends", there is the box on changing avatars on the upper right. Query in my previous post now answered because I clicked on the wrong button. I was trying to click on the "Personal Messages and Conversation" button to see whether I could send a PM to another member. It appears that I cannot? How do I send a PM?
Click signed in as, update your profile.
To send a PM, click the member you want to send to, click send an Email.
This is very simple if you read the pages, what you want to do is there, but read
Collecting Vintage B&O is not a hobby, its a lifestyle.
I am still exploring my way around. I haven't found the "pages" yet. You'll have to give me time, lots and lots of time.
BTW: We're "friends". Did you receive my message?

Oh yes now we are friends forever
