BeoSystem 3 speaker selections

Is there a guide that explains what takes place with the different speaker selections in the sound settings? Is the frequency response and subwoofer routing different for Beolab Penta vs. Beolab 4000? If so, where are the differences documented? For that matter, what about the rest of the configuration settings for audio, video, and other parameters? The service manual lists them, but doesn’t explain the result of the selections, or any guidance.
