Hi Beoworlders,
I thought you may be interested to hear that a Beocreate setup was demonstrated at the Hifi Wigwam Show in Kegworth last weekend. This is the first time I have heard the Beocreate DSP board used with non-B&O speakers - in this case two stacked pairs of 2-way DIY passive bookshelf speakers were used.
I have put together a video review of the show (including the Beocreate exhibit), incidentally this show is one of the hidden gems of the UK hifi scene in my view:-

Whilst there wasn't much B&O at this year's show, maybe a few of us from Beoworld could get together to address that for next year? I wonder if anyone else is up for showing the world just how good a B&O system can sound.....
Kind regards, Steve.
Steve.

Hi,
I've been to the HI Fi Wigwam Show many times and would certainly encourage anyone with an interest in Hi Fi to attend. The sheer diversity of equipment and the enthusiasm of the exhibitors is amazing.
I've always come away keen to play a more active part the following year but never actually managed it, so some sort of B & O show case may well be the incentive needed.
James
Hi James,
My thoughts exactly! Lets have a chat later in the year when the plans for the 2020 show start, if you are still interested - there is also interest from members of the B&O Facebook forums, so I am sure we can put together a great B&O system between us!
He did, (Beobloke on the Wam Forum I think?) unfortunately as I remember he was in the smallest possible room which was far from ideal but obviously good to fly the flag as it were.
Yes, I had a chat to Adam when he exhibited at the Scalford show a few years back, I think he had a Beogram/Beomaster 8000 setup that year with MS150 speakers? He was a really nice guy, hopefully he is still on Beoworld or the Wigwam forum.
Yes, I’m still here and still on Wigwam!
i was away last weekend and couldn’t make Kegworth this year but I’ve signed up for next year. I’m still debating whether to do a conventional system, take a load of high end Jap direct drive turntable along, or do a room full of Yamaha gear or a room full of B&O. I might ask on Wigwam what people would prefer to see nearer the time, but I’m guessing I know the answer from here!
You are right, though, that it was a bit of a shame regarding the room size the year I took the Beolab 8000 system. Still, I thought it sounded fine and I had a lot of compliments; many from people who had never heard B&O before!
Hi Adam,
Great to hear from you! The room size at Scalford Hall was always a bit hit and miss, there were some good rooms and some terrible ones...... Kegworth seems more consistent, all of the rooms are reasonable sizes (although there is still the risk of being next to/above someone REALLY LOUD)......
It could be interesting to do a B&O vs. high-end comparison if the room space allows? This year, there was a guy who did A/B speaker comparisons and that was very popular.
Look forward to seeing you at next year's show!
Hello All,
A bit late but I have just noticed this post. I showed the Beocreate based system at Kegworth. I enjoyed the experience of exhibiting and would certainly encourage B&O enthusiasts to take a room at next years show. Sharing a room is probably a good idea as it gives you each a chance to visit other rooms during the day and you can share the job of setting up / breaking down and returning the room to normal at the end.
Just to clarify one point - I had two systems on show - both using DIY bookshelf speakers with active crossovers but the two sets of speakers were never playing at the same time. The stacking was really just to minimise the hassle of switching between - although it did cause some confusion during the day - perhaps using numbered tags as one exhibitor did would have been a good idea.
The first system, probably of most interest on this forum, used the Beocreate board, providing both the active crossover and the four amplifier channels. The speakers were approximately 4litre internal volume using a Scanspeak ring-radiator tweeter and a 4" Scanspeak midbass. These were in response to the Suitcase challenge - just how good can a system that fits within a suitcase sound? Anyone interested in the details of the build will find a thread on Hifiwigwam DIY section. At a push this system could fit in aircraft hand luggage.
If you came to Room 109 before about 14:30 you would have heard the Beocreate system playing. After this time, I switched to the other system, which used a Raspberry Pi ZeroW with an IQ Audio DAC, a MiniDSP 2x4HD active crossover, Arcam ampification and the "big bothers" of the other speakers - a Scanspeak 1" dome tweeter with a 5" Scanspeak midbass in a 10litre cabinet.
Glad to have stumbled across this forum - we have recently inherited a non-working Beocentre 1000 - from my late father-in-law and when the time comes later in the year I may avail of your expertise in getting this working again.
Robert
Hello Robert,
Welcome to Beoworld! It was great to speak to you at the Hifi Wigwam show, you had the Beocreate system playing when I was there (sorry if I misunderstood how you had got the speakers set up when I made the video!)
There are plenty of experienced B&O repairers on this forum, so it is worth posting on the "Workbench" area of the site about the Beocenter 1000 and one of the experts there will no doubt be straight in touch.
I look forward to speaking to you again on the forum and hopefully also at next year's Hifi Wigwam show!
