Dear Beoworld forum members,i just buy BeoSound Essence MK1 with Essence remote and i'm a bit confused.
I don't know how to:
- switch input source from Apple iOS smart device- switch input source from BeoSound Essence Remote (pushing top "unfilled circle" play button has no response)- change volume from Apple iOS smart device- play and control radio from Apple iOS smart device- use Spotify Connect (in Spotify app is only AirPlay option)
BeoMusic app isn't available anymore for download and new app Bang&Olufsen works only just for device setup. Or it's any way to download this discontinued app?This device wasn't cheap even like second hand.I hope it's not total crap and wasted money.

Did you actually conclude this setup - with access for the TuneIN app favourites, the AP and the Spotify Connect credentials etc?

With Bang&Olufsen "new app" was posible to setup only device name and WiFi connection. Wasn't possible to enter any credentials...I would like to use mainly for Spotify / TuneIN app streaming and Line-in input for TV. And switch between inputs from Essence remote.This is impossible now.
Did you look for updates of the Essence?
Could you perhaps post a screenshot of the app, where you could enter the wifi etc?

I am no specialist, but here are some of my quick remarks as an Essence MK1 -owner since 2014.
1. Most of the functions that you described in your post were done previously via BeoMusic app, which is at the moment defunct.
2. Remote control only gives you the control of volume and turning music/device on and off.
3. Spotify Connect does not support Essence (at least last time I checked). I use AirPlay, which seems to work okay.
4. This is not a part of your post, but which annoys me a big deal is that there is a failure in RCA -input that seems to be a common problem in MK1. Meaning if you hook up your TV into the input, the whole system comes unstable (gives distorted noise and/or does not respond to commands).
To me, the restricitions of Beosound Essence Mk1 were highly disappointing, it was clearly a test project for a streaming hub for the manufacturer. I have had a number of problems with the system (had it serviced during warranty and also replaced once), and though I am a fan of B&O speakers I must say that this system has been a disappointment!
Having said this, I am thinking of swapping the system to Beosound Core, that should be now their project for a longer time development. I have been promised by the dealer that it should make all the things that Essence should have done (and which maybe Essence MK2 has also done, but not MK1). Perhaps I am crazy, but I think I give it a try since I enjoy my Beo speaker set a lot!
Anyone online, I also welcome all the opinions and reviews on Beosound Core!
@qqquickkk I feel for you in this Essence deal, I hope you get it working in some terms or perhaps can return it. I am afraid of trading my MK1 to anyone, and probably won't, as they probably want to return it. Shame really.
