hi,

on moving from a Beosystem 3 to a 4, what I’m missing is the service option to remove screen auto detect and select which Beovision I am connecting to manually. Does anyone know if there is a service option apart from the Red-Go on setup? Maybe another hidden menu somewhere

Hello frog,

I am on the same page with you on this one and I was curious if you have solved it. I have a beosystem 4 connected to an atlona switcher (5 inputs, 2 mirrored outputs but I am currently using only one input and all stb are connected on beosystem), on which an epson projector and a beoplay v1 are connected. The manual says that if a beovision is connected to it it is automatically detected by beosystem 4. Unfortunately this is not the case for my setup. Any ideas?

Thank you

A part of the autodetect is for the BS4 to know if the Atlona swtich with the special B&O firmware is connected for the Cinema function of having both a tv and a projector. When this is detected, new options are available in the menu to setup both a tv screen and a projector.

This isn't really an answer to the OP. Just some interesting info.

Thanks for the answer I have read about the atlona switch with the special firmware but I cannot recall the exact model. Do you remember it?

Thank you

hi,

you can use any Atlona AT-HD4-V42. there is no specific firmware or version. (info from b&o and atlona support) I use the Atlona AT-HD4-V42 with the beosystem 4 with projector and a upgraded beovision 9 (with deactivated beosystem 3). When the beosystem 4 detects the AT-HD4-V42 on the hdmi output, an additional menu appears for the two hdmi outputs . do you know the service manual for the cinema (2nd screen) installation of the beosystem 4?

This is not true. You must have the Atlona flashed with the B&O firmware in order to get the hidden menu of having 2 screens. I know this first-hand. I had the switcher without the B&O firmware and it did not provide the menu until it was flashed with the B&O firmware. This is detected via HDMI.

hi beojeff!

very interesting, i use an original AT-HD4-V42 without b&o firmeware and it is recognized by the beosystem 4 at the hdmi output. thus I get the menu for the second monitor and the ir control via CTRL2 and for the projector via CTRL5. (as described in the manual BeoSystem 4 dual screen)

I also received this information from b&o and atlona support. (there is only one difference in the packaging) - where did you get the b&o firmeware did you flash it yourself or where was it done? (at that time I only made a firmware update from the atlona homepage version S99A)

thanks beoandy

It's possible that you might actually have the B&O firmware. Both B&O and Atlona advised that the switch needs the B&O firmware for it to be recognized. I sent mine to Atlona and they returned it to me after flashing it with the B&O firmware.

I had had extensive emails with BeoCare about this very issue. This is from one of their emails to me: One of our technicians just confirmed that it has to be the special B&O version of the Atlona splitter as this has different firmware installed. Unfortunately, it is not possible to use the non-B&O version."

hi beojeff! very strange - as already written beocare and the support from atlona have confirmed it to me differently by email. beocare: "After looking int the matter, we are happy to let you know that there is no specialized B&O software available for the Atlona." and atlona: "the AT-HD4-V42-B & O has no special firmware, we suspect the difference was in the accessories back then, because a PUC cable with a 3.5mm connection can be used for the control from B&O TV." so i bought a used stock at-hd4-v42 on ebay and it works for me. (is recognized by the bs4 and i have the additional menu for two hdmi outputs, the timing menu for the cinema trigger for the cinema setup including ir control of the output switch of the atlona). beosystem 4 and the atlona switch have the last firmware.

hi beojeff! but that would be extremely luck if both have the b&o firmeware. back then i had bought two atlona AT-HD4-V42s from different retailers on ebay. both work.
