Hello B&O Lovers,
I have the following setup and would very much appreciate any help setting up the BS3 to achieve 7.1 surround;
Sub is Beolab 19
Center speaker is 7-4
Front L & R are Beolab 6000
Surround R and L are Beolab 8000
Back L & R are Beolab 4000
what is the ideal set up for surround sound in the BS3 with the above speakers.
Thanks so much
Welcome to Beoworld!
Firstly it depends very much on your room - and of your seating in the room.
As a starting point I’d swap the speakers:
Front L & R are Beolab 8000
Surround R and L are Beolab 4000
Back L & R are Beolab 6000
There is a tv - and there is a BV
MM, thank you so much,
Due to the room size, I am stuck with the placement I have, and I do get sound from all speakers, but I do not know if it is surround.
The beolab 6000 are daisy chained, the 8000 are using a Y Adapter and the 4000 are daisy chain, just need to verify the surround setting on the BS3
In BS3 sound adjustment it shows;
Default Video Speaker 5
Default Audio Speaker 5
is this correct??
Thank you again

There is no right or wrong here, it is entirely up to you!
However having Audio i 5 speaker mode will force the system to create the 3 missing channels (surround) if you have a stereo signal, It may sound cool but of course not the way it was intended. Try 2 speakers first you can alway change on the remote. SPEAKER +1-5
Video usually has surround content so 5 speakers would be a good choice.
Let me know how that sub implementation works out!
EDIT: I only now realize you have 7.1 Setup, but the answer still applies. I always refer to 4 speakers as POWER mode, try and you will see why
Awesome Beovox141,
Will try once I am home, and will let you know, thanks a million for the feedback.
Enjoy the box, once you get to know it you will love it,- and has a few tricks up its sleeve.
The User Service Menu can by found this way, MENU, MENU, go to OPTIONS (just stay there don't select) and then press RED ARROW, GO!
BEOVOX141; Thank you again, I just set it up with the 7 speakers yesterday and I already love it, just wanting to know any quick cool tricks you might suggest,;
Will load up the menu manu as soon as I get home, thanks again.
When you do get home,- look up the type number first it's on the gray label an any text or labels next to the Acc letters.
BEOVOX141, thank you,
Type number?? you mean on the BS3 Type (it is MKIII) is that what you mean??
Basically just to know what kind of hardware and tuner you have.
This would be really cool! A Type number starting with 77xx!

If you go into the Sound settings you will be able to see what the BS 3 selected as decoding option. Its located under SOUND SYSTEM.
Its done automatically, but you can lock this to something else in the user service menu.
Thank you and awesome

If you look at the connectors at the back side you will notice a second output. Display two. If you enable this output in the connections menu you can connect a second screen. Switching between the two of them is done pressing FORMAT 0. Complete with curtains closing on one screen and opening up on the other.
You are in luck since your BS3 has HDMI OUTPUTS, and they both carry sound as well, so you could connect a TV elsewhere using a just a HDMI cable.
In this particular setup (My Daughters room) she can move the TV picture to her computer monitor when doing homework. In this setup there is a master link to an Ouverture running the red BL4s. Sound can the be switched from the TV 5.1 set to 2.0 Overture and vise versa with the sources of the Ouverture.
I like to use 4 speakers mode for audio on my BS3. Have you tried it?
Select "speaker" on your remote and then press the number 4.
You can try other modes as well, from 1 to 5.

As written on the previous page, I refer to SPEAKER 4 as "POWER" mode

Twice as good as stereo 🙄
MM
Good morning Dante and BEOVOX141,
You are both correct; Speaker 4 is "POWER", Love it!
Listened to Miles Davis Doo Bop and it was awesome.
Thanks a million
Millemissen:Twice as good as stereo 🙄
Not necessarily, but there is a lot more punch!
The funny thing is no matter where you are in the room you still get the stereo effect. Going mono on all four speakers proves that point!
Guess that makes me a "sweet spot" denier,- or perhaps a "mono" slayer?
....or maybe you just can’t sit still 😉
