Hope someone can help me. I am considering buying a used beolab 3500 to connect to my beocenter 2300 (as the only speaker) for my kitchen. Is that possible? Have been googling a bit and it seems like you need a special cable as the beolab has no powerlink. Is this correct and if so what cable would I need. Any advice would be much appreciated! Thanks

The Beolab 3500 is designed to be used in a link room, however ...

Connect the BC2300 via 7-pin Audio Aux link to a Beolink Converter 1611, which should be connected to the BL3500 using a Masterlink cable.

Then put the BC2300 in A.OPT 0, so that it will not respond to remote commands.

And you should be able to control the BC2300 via the IR sensor in the BL3500, thus achieving the result that you require.
