Hi all,
I browsed this forum for similar connectivity questions (and tried to get answers from the local B&O store) but with not much luck - at least not for current products:
I have the following old B&O equipment that I absolutely love and would like to adequately connect with a new Samsung Smart TV (The Frame):
- BeoSound 3000
- Beolab 11 Subwoofer
- Beolab 6000 Speakers
The Samsung TV has all the latest connections incl. in-built AirPlay2 and Apple TV (if that helps at all). I'm happy to get a BeoSound Core or similar if that helps. And yes, the ideal set up would allow for adding a couple of wireless speakers to the mix (e.g. Beolab 17).
Any help or ideas with the above would be very much appreciated!
Many thanks in advance
SvenT
Hi SvenT,
Welcome to Beoworld! From memory, I think the Frame TV just has an optical audio output (no headphone socket), so either Beosound Core or the B&O Connection Hub (or an optical to audio converter) would be needed to get audio into the Beosound and speakers. The cost of these options would vary greatly, so please let me know which one suits your needs and budget best and I can help you to get everything connected.
Kind regards, Steve.
Steve.

Hi Steve,
Thank you so much for the prompt response and for your kind offer to help out!
I compromised with my system for too long so I'm happy to invest in a Beosound Core (assuming that will provide a good technical option to address the problem). And yes, it looks like the Frame TV has an optical audio output, but no headphone socket.
Many thanks in advance!
Thomas
Thanks Thomas,
Please use an optical cable from the TV to the Core (please add a note to request a free 3.5mm optical adapter to fit the special socket in the Core, then I will be pleased to include this for you):-

This cable will connect from the output of the Core to the Aux socket of the Beosound 3000 to play the TV and streaming music to the speakers:-

Thanks so much - that is very clear. I hope you don't mind me asking one more question:
I'm considering adding a pair of BeoLab 17 speakers to the mix. Can I do that with the BeoLab Core (if connected as per your suggestion) or would I require a BeoLab Transmitter 1? If I require a BeoLab Transmitter 1 - could I connect the Samsung TV to it or do I still need the Core as well?
Basically I'm looking at:
Obviously I want both music and TV to go through all 5 speakers.
Almost there I hope! ;-)
Thousand thanks again!
Hi Thomas,
No problem, you can add as many speakers as you want to the Core via Powerlink cables, please note that you will get stereo sound to all speakers and not surround sound.
If you wish the speakers to be wireless, you will need to add a Transmitter 1. Please let me know if you need any help with the cables for either wired or wireless connections and I will be happy to help.
Thanks for all your advise to date. We progressed the renovations far enough that I'm ready to order the cables (and buy the Core). In regards to adding a Transmitter 1 as per previous post, how do I connect it to my Beosound 3000? And can I assume that all 5 B&O speakers (3 wired, incl. subwoofer and 2 wireless) would effectively be connected to the Transmitter 1 (which is connected to the Beosound 3000)?
Thanks as always
Thanks for your reply. Yes, the Transmitter 1 can connect to the Beosound 3000 to play to the two wireless speakers. The other three wired speakers should connect to the other Powerlink socket of the Beosound 3000.
The Core will then link to the Aux socket of the 3000 with this cable to play to all five speakers:-
Please ask if you need any further help.
Kind regards, Steve
