Is it possible to connect a Google Chromecast device via the RJ45 connector to get the device to accept Chromecast connection?

You can connect a Chromecast device to the BS Moment just like you can connect any other external device with an analog (R/L) output.

That is what the ‘Line In’ input on the Moment is for.

If you - by the RJ45 connector - mean the 2 PowerLink outputs (called Speakers)....no these are for the BeoLab speakers.

And the other RJ45 connector is for a network cable for connecting to the home network (ethernet).

I have the B&O supplied cd drive connected through the line input

I was hoping to connect the chromcast via the network connector

If ths is a bad idea i guess i will need a splitter switch to allow cd playback or chromcast

It is not just a bad idea, it won’t work!

You will need the switch in your case.

I'm surprised B&O haven't added Chromecast support to the Moment in an update.

I assume the processor doesn't have the required horsepower, or they would have done it already.  They obviously know how to integrate the SDK, since they have already done it in numerous other devices.

I'm less interested in adding Chromecast than adding Google Voice support for the existing Deezer/Tunein/DLNA streaming.  I find the B&O Multiroom to work better than Chomrecast anyway.  (Faster startup, add and subtract rooms at will.)

Sources: 2x Beosound Moment • 4x Beosound Essence Mk II
Speakers: 3x Beolab 8000 • 2x Beolab 6000 • 2x Beolab 3 • 3x Beolab 2
Integrated:  1x Beosound 2 • 1x Beosound Level • 4x BeoPlay M5 • 1x BeoPlay A6
Control:  16x* Essence Remote  • 1x Beoremote Halo

* Yes, really! 🤦‍♂️

Maybe derailing the thread but just want to clarify:

Supporting e.g Deezer or TuneIn in Google Assitant is nothing B&O are involved in. That is between google and the service.

Agree that B&O multi room is superior to fiddling with Chromecast for the same.
