I don’t know if there’s already a thread on this subject however if there is, please share it with me.
I am using a beomaster 6000 with beovox mc120.2 speakers which already sounds fantastic. I do like to play movies through it and quite bassy music which got me thinking is it worth running an active subwoofer. So I’ve bought a cheap one just to try it. It’s connected via the b speaker outputs to the hi level in on the sub. It’s obviously not a very good sub as in sound quality doesn’t compare but I’m not entirely sure how to set it up ie what frequency to cut it off at. What do the speakers play down to and should I over lap the sub and speakers and if so how much by. I will be building a hi quality sub if i can get to grips with the set up and if it’s going to be worth it.
Basically I’m after advice, opinions and people’s experience with the subject. Thanks In advance
In your case I think you need a dual sub set up and the sub needs to go well below your speakers to sound good and also should have more power. Ideally you can connect both subs and speakers to RCA stereo outputs if you want. Set the subs to cross over around 20-30 Hz above the low frequency range of your speakers and adjust the sub volume accordingly. Ideally if you are using dial subs then match the left/right inputs to the speakers and the subs.
subs will always improve sound for movies.
