I am curious. In a small room, say 150sf (15 width and 10 deep). Which one will you prefer for movie? 2.0 setup with BL5 or 5.1 setup with BL8002/BL10/BL2/BL4000 (my current setup lol).

BL8000, BL10, BL4000, BL2, BL3 (Sold), Beocentre 2 (Sold), Beosystem 3, LG C8

Depends on what you prefer and how you want the room to look like. I think stereo sound is often quite ok but dialogue is better from a center speaker.

I think your current setup with a good bass speaker sounds good. Beolab 5 is aging too although a cool high performing speaker. You would get good sound but you already have pretty good sound. And in surround.

Beolab 50, Beolab 8000 x 2, Beolab 4000 x 2,
BeoSound Core, BeoSound 9000, BeoSound Century,
BeoLit 15, BeoPlay A1, BeoPlay P2, BeoPlay H9 3rd Gen, BeoPlay H6, EarSet 3i,
BeoVision Eclipse Gen 2 55", BeoPlay V1-40,
BeoCom 6000 and so much else :)

I am quite happy with my current setup, esp. considering I have a sub-par room acoustic, however there is always room for improvement lol

Beolab 5 hand down. they out perform all the others by a long shot, look awesome and what you miss in surround, you get back in performance

For movies your set up is hands down better than 2 BeoLab 5s. You’ll get better dialogs from the center and better sound effects. The Beolab 5s might be better in creating a thumping bass but movies need 360 degree audio and your room is perfect for a BL8002 5.1 sized system. In your case, I would go with a dual BL2 set up and perhaps add 2 more BL 4000s in the rear.

B&O in my life 😊:

  • Beolab 8002 + Beolab 2 + Beosound Core with Essence Remote (Office)
  • Beolab 6000 + Beolab 11 + Beosound Core with Essence Remote (Bedroom)
  • Beoplay A9 Mk2 (Living Room)
  • Beosound 1 with wireless dock (Portable)
  • Beosound Balance (Dining)
  • Beoplay H95 (Focused listening, travel)
  • Beoplay H9 (3rd gen) (retired)
  • Beoplay P6 (Portable)
  • Beotime wall clock (hallway entrance)
  • BMW X5 50i with B&O Audio Package (Commute/drive)
