Hi there!

Recently I got a beocord 8002 with some belt replacement needed according to the seller.

So I tried with the old ones of my beocord 9000 (that still were doing ok until I replaced them).

Well...neither the tape nore the motor move - just the head tries to read the cassette and stops again.

Are my belts gone? Motor dead or is there any other mechanism theat recognizes faulty belts so tat the motor doesn' t even start to spin? Is that normal or should it be spinning without any belts on (as other tapes do)?

Would be nice to know what the problem may be.

Greetings from Germany

Daniel

Most likely you disturnbed some connections.
It's not uncommon to see cracked solder joints where the connectors from the tape drive is soldered to circuitboards.

The belts for Beocord 8000 and 9000 are identical.
I can supply new belts and also new idler wheel rubber tires.

Hi Dillen,

thanks for your help and sorry for my late response. The last few weeks have been a little turbulent and the beocord was put aside.

So the motor normally should spin (some time) even when there are no belts placed?

Thanks for your offer, but first I really need to check if there is a problem to the soldering. Is there a way to see if some points are broken or should I resolder the two connections anyway?

I have a multimeter and a soldering iron but could need some detailed help.

Hello again,

I checked the 250mA fuse of the deck and it´s blown.

Am I right that the buttons as play/ ff/ rw still work without that fuse but not the motor? I will get a new one today to test it.

Could be the same problem as Peter had with his beocord 8000:

Unfortunately according to his comment on youtube he never fixed it and gave it away broken as it was :-(

Yes.
Check the fuse holder too. It's known to become weak from oxidation.

Thank you Martin, you are right. The holder is not as clean as it should be. Not really oxidated yet but the metal is a little "greyed".

I' ll clean it with alcohol and I' m curious what happens with a new fuse.
