The LX4500 TV in V.opt 6 will respond to commands preceded by LINK. For some reason the MX4002 will not do this. It seems something in the software is different. I have tried all other V.option settings. Anyone know a way of doing this? There is no physical connection with the MCL (MCL2A only in the room)
The MX4002 was a bit different to the '4000 David.It has a Master Link interface,as opposed to MCL,and I think too,it was optimised for Beo4 use?
Pressing link would set the tv looking for another ML product normally.
When installing,the ML products "handshake"to establish comms.
Using the tv as a stand alone,it will ignore link commands I imagine
I'll search through the "archives" for more info.

I thought that might be the issue Nick. I did have a 4000 and gave it to someone in need. Might have to do a swap.
I have a Beolink video module. Might that 'switch' it into link mode by being connected and powered up?
The LX4500 has unfortunately developed an intermittent picture problem. It varies from normal to darker to an "over exposed" look and also starting to show green/yellow areas wherever there is red in the picture.

The Beolink video will still something else to communicate with David as you say.
The later MX's did seem to be rather limited in the link dept.
The LX4500 seems to be suffering with poor de-magnetising of the crt mounting metalwork?
This should happen each time you switch on from "cold",but the circuit that controls it can fail.
It's a common problem,but easily fixed.
There may also be dry joints on the video output pcb.
Your useful local techie should be aware of the "usual suspects"though.
Thanks for this Nick.Yes this LX does not make much of the familiar buzzing noise like the others on startup. It needs some attention and unfortunately the engineer was pushed for time that day so couldn't look at it. The MX is working fine but cumbersome to use because of the option 6 issue. Interestingly a BV8-32 which I have adopted operates just like the LX in option 6 even though it is an ML product.

It's exasperating,but as you have found David,the ""link"software is not consistant across the tv models.It seems to depend upon what B&O decided at the time would be appropriate for the particular set and how it would in their view,be used.
Better and more versatile surely to have the same options available across the range?
