The dial cord / string on my 900K broke (FM tuner / lower dial).  I have replacement cord and found a 'dial drive' diagram in an online service manual.  This seems technically simple, but physically tricky.  I have several questions and am looking for any tips.

Here's what I think I need to do:

  • Cut cord to rough length (130cm + 10cm for knotting)
  • Route the cord, following the 'dial drive' diagram (assuming that I'll need some sort of forceps to route it)
  • 'Magically' tie the two ends snugly on the tension spring
  • Coordinate the 'needle' with the actual tuner reception
Any tips on those steps?
  • Where should I set the FM tuner when starting - or is this irrelevant?
Finally - any recommendations for a vintage audio repair shop in Prague / Czech Republic?   I have (3) of these 900 units - and one of the other units suddenly dropped its FM audio a few weeks ago.

Thanks, in advance - and Happy New Year.
