Hello all BEO Freaks!
I have aquired a BEOMASTER 5500 with remote and cd unit and cassette unit , no vinyl unit .. C75 loudspeakers, foam seems ok.
To start off my adventure I am testing the Amplifier.
Connected to AUX I get output, the quality sounds 'medium'Connected to PHONO2 also medium quality , just a bit louder.
I have connected and plugged in the BEOGRAM CD 50 : no lights come on
same thing with the BEOCORD 5500
Neither is coming in standby mode
I have all connected to 5500 withe din cables , and 220 Volt is plugged in.
PS Maste control Panel 5500 is operational.
Merci d'avance,
Hugo
Anyone please?
Have a look at the connectors for the Beocord and Beogram. How many pins are present in the DIN plugs?
Each should have 7 pins.
The reason I ask is because sometimes people have removed the outer pins, reducing to 5, for use with other non-B&O amplifiers.
Thank you for the clarification
I have just jumped in to B&O with a given 5500 set pure , from an original installation in heavy smoking room condition!
nothing is mixed , all B&O
i have no idea how to get the cd and tape unit 'online'
Still no idea whatsoever. Just the Beomaster online.
Are there any fuses to check?
Where does the standby / tension signal come from for the Beogram CD 50 and the Beocord 5500 ?
All units should light up with a red standby dot when mains power is connected regardless of any interconnects etc.If they don't do that, they will need electronic repairs (fuse and/or whatever).
Martin
That has been my guess since the beginning, but I needed to be sure.
thank you for the answer.
where do you suggest I look first , which component , a fuse ?
Fuses, yes.And if a fuse has blown the reason must be investigated.
Main fuse has blown;
I am curios to know if this is a standard update of the main print..
How right you are Martin!
I did short test with a new fuse on the cassette deck.
Standby light came on , but smoke as well! I suspect that it came from the big capacitor in the power supply.
I disconnected at once.
Question : do I change the big capacitor for an identical one?
Can any other component have been affected?
TIA
