Hi all
I recently picked up a Beocord 5000 and a Beogram 4004 for $50 locally. The seller had original boxes and manuals including receipts! However they were missing the Beomaster 2400 that was on the receipt and the guy couldn't make heads or tails of the DINs. Anyway, the Beocord ate anything he tried so that was a "freebie". I got it home and one of the pinch rollers was not moving which caused the tape to dump. I took it apart and cleaned out the rollers/pins (rollers actually weren't that bad just had a ton of junk on them and one from froze on the pin), capstans and head and now I have it playing and working smoothly so no more eaten tapes! Everything functions on it, all bulbs are still good, record lvl sliders work, headphone out so i was like SWEET!
Caveat to this is it will randomly sound like someone is dragging a mic on the floor. Sometimes I get through a whole side of a tape and everything works. Next time it's like every other song. Hit stop, then play again and it's good for a while and will pop up in a song or two or might be good for another side.
Any ideas? At first I thought it might be the old adapter but the PPM on it spikes even when I unplug it and just let it run.
Thanks in advance and greetings to you all from a newbie!
