Hi BeoWorld,

As the BS5 has a A.AUX selector I want to use it but do not know where to connect my auxilary?

I thought it where the red and white connectors on BM5 , but they semm to be outputs not inputs.

Thanks for your help.

Have a look at Steve's 3 Dec post here: https://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/p/38653/293650.aspx#293650

A Beolink Converter 1611 would seem to be the solution, effectively feeding any inputs via the Masterlink socket.

Thank you, but whats this Beolink Converter from Bang & Olufsen (type 1161166) about? Is this a beolink 1611, are there different versions of this Type:1161166 ?

EDIT: Sorry I know saw on ebay that some BeoLinks have a Type No: 1611 and an item Numbre: 1161166, others have only the Type Numbre missing the Item part

Hi again!

Yes. Type 1161166 is the same as Type 1611.  For some reason it's the 2nd to 5th digits of the former!

Other version include the 1614 and 1615, but you need the 1611.

Does this means the BM5 does not have a AUX IN.

It is by using USB.

You need the Behringer device for it.

I use it for my Chromecast Audio to be connected to a.aux to listen to Spotify.

I have the Behringer U-Control UCA222 USB Audio Interface

Hi gerard,

Yes, you need a USB adapter like this one to get an Aux input to the Beomaster 5: https://soundsheavenly.com/music-input/17-beomaster-5-beosound-5-aux-usb-input-converter-also-works-as-pcmac-sound-card.html

Kind regards, Steve.

I know got a second hand beolink 1611.

It has the Audio Aux Link.

This shoul be this one:

Using the 2-3-5 Pins should bring the sound to the beolink1611.

Hiw do I need to configuer the BM5/BS5 to see the 1611 ?

I am not 100% sure (as I don't have a BS5), but I think you need to put the BS5 in A.OPT 2, and then simply press any of the video sources (eg TV) to receive an input from the 1611.

To put in A.OPT 2:

Turn to standby/off.

On the Beo4, press the POWER button and LIST together.  Then press LIST until OPTION is shown, press GO (centre button), and then press LIST to show A.OPT.  Then press 2.  The power light on the device may blink to show that it has been accepted.

Ignore what I posted above - apparently on the BS5/BM5 you use the system menus to chose the options settings (it's all explained on pages 20/21 of the installation guide):

On the BS5, you use the wheel to go to the service settings menu, and you need to set it to AM 2.

On the BM5, use the Beo4, press Menu 9, go to the configuration menu and set AM to Option 2.

@Guy

Hi Guy,

I've just connected the 1611 to my ML junctionbox.

and set the BS/BM5 to AM.Opt. 2 in the service settings with the wheel on the display.

But I have to say that my ML has to objects , a BV10 and the BS/BM5.

All speakers are connected to the BV10, the BS/BM5 was set to AM.Opt 0

The BS5 has also the Setting AudioMaster On/Off, currently its set to On, setting it to Off will grey out the AM Options Menu

How do you test if the connections in the Junction box are fine, I have 3 ML cables in the box.

When setting the BS5 to AM 2 , how can I access the AUX signal from 1611 converter?

On Beo4:

TV brings up AV1 (external Sat-Box) on the BV10

DVD brings AV2 (panasonicDVD) on BV10

DTV brings AV3 (Apple-TV) on BV10

Kind regards

and happy hollidays

gerard
