Greetings dear forum users,
Can you please tell if the MX1500 set is compatible with any of the beo4 remotes, or is it the Beolink 1000 the only remote that will work?
I have recently acquired a rather nice MX4200 unit along with the MX1500. The latter was sold as 'faulty', though the owner couldn't quire recall what exactly was wrong with it.
Upon inspection, I noted that the button on the right is missing. The power on button is jammed but can be forced down and works. There is an image. Channels scanning as they should. So if I'm lucky, this could be the extent of the faultiness. If all it needs is a Beolink 1000 to work, I would take the chance, as I basically got the tv for free.
Hi and welcome to Beoworld!
Both the MX1500 and the MX4200 will work fine with either BL1000 or any Beo4 remote (although the very last one with the Toggle Button would have reduced functionality).
Oh cripes... So my MX1500 does indeed need repairs - it is not responding to my Beo4 (which works perfectly with the MX4200).
My final, desperate question is: can anyone venture a guess as to why the tv won't acknowledge the remote? Seems like an expensive fix in any case...
It's a long time since I owned a MX1500, but I seem to remember that the power button could be used to select something else by half pressing it. If the power button is stuck in, perhaps it is sending a permanent message to the TV, thereby confusing it and preventing the IR signal from being received.
I would try to fix the power button first.
Further to my last, have a look at this page: https://www.beoworld.org/prod_details.asp?pid=631
This bit may have been what I recall about the power button:
Emergency operation - if Beolink 1000 had been misplaced, there was an on/off button on the set itself. The same button could be used to programme the channels if the terminal was not at hand
Thank you so much for all the info Guy. I will investigate all this and see what I can do. These 1500s are so cute.. I will do what I can to keep it off the garbage pile.
I think Guy is right on the power switch - great TV by the way.
They also have a small battery inside and when this goes you have to keep reprogramming it after it has had power removed - might be worth changing that anyway whilst it is being repaired?
You were right 😄
Instead of turning on the set by pressing the button on the TV set, I turned it on using the Beo4. And whaddya know - it lives!
Only problem now is that the image I’m getting from my Raspberry Pi/HDMI-to-SCART converter is black and white. I know the the Euro MX1500 only accept PAL signals, but my converter is set to PAL, so that isn’t the issue... Also, I know that the TV itself has color because I see vibrant colors in the teletext screen, for ex.
Something is wrong with the signal. Possibly, my low-grade converter is faulty. I’m sure I can figure it out.
That’s a useful bit of info as well. I’ll keep that in mind if I ever run into this sort of problem again. Thank you sir 😎

Great news that the remote is working - thanks for letting us know!
And yes, I would suspect either the converter or the SCART leads. Perhaps you have an old video or DVD player that you could plug in to test the TV's input more fully?
So the issue of the image being B&W was a rather silly one. For some reason, the color was set to '0' (and reverts to '0' every time I turn off/on the TV set).
I couldn't access the picture settings through the beo4 remote, because as Guy pointed out, the beo4 has reduced functionality when operating the MX1500. But I got a Beolink 1000 remote and all is great now. Thanks to everyone who offered advice - I am so happy to have this tv working.
I should mention that the Beolink 1000 didn't work at first. I could see this by using the old 'film IR emitter with phone camera' trick. An internet search informed me that these BL remotes often have issues with oxidized battery contacts. Sure enough, a couple of applications of Deoxit did the trick :)
Good news that it's all working - thanks for letting us know, and enjoy your TV!
EDIT: I should have added: I presume that you can adjust the colour upwards from zero, and then press STORE PICTURE STORE to set that as default, or does it still revert to zero when you turn the set off and on again?
