Hello,

i recently got a Beocord 5000 with broken belts and im now trying to get it working again.

I replaced the belts and also the blown 10 ohm fusible resistor R20 on the power supply.

And it works just fine for 5 seconds now but then it goes back into standby ( It plays tape, fast forwards fine in these 5 seconds).

I measured some voltages and resistors on the board but cant find anything unusual. I also disconnected eveything from the main board and powered it up and it still shuts down after 5 sec.

This leads me to the conclusion that i can't be a bad motor or to much friction from the belts that causes the shutdown.

Does anybody have any suggestions what i could check next, i am a bit lost right now.

If you fitted the belts you got from me, you can rule them out.
The problem could be dried lubricants in the motor bearings, idler wheel(s) or the tape spools, causing the
circuit monitoring the motor current to send a standby command to the processor, because the motor draws too much current.
Or a problem with the safety circuit itself.

Hey Martin,

didn't get your belts yet.

I disconnected the tape mechanism and it still shows the same behaviour this let's me believe that the issue lies not in the belts/motor. Unless the processor is that intelligent and notices that there is no motor connected and sends it back into standby. I also checked if R20 blew again but it is fine.

Could you give me a hint where the safety circuit is located? ^^
