Hi all,
i was looking at the error code table in the BM8000 service manual and keep scratching my head about
how to interpret the codes ?
example TE3......defect IC....9IC3.......31....(or short IC pin to chassis) ???
does that mean connecting Pin31 to chassis or pin31 has a short to chassis ??
could someone shed some light on this or am I sitting on my brain ?🙄
thank you so much
ALF
Hi Alf
Maybe I could bring some Light into this Error Codes.
If you got the Servie Manual you should read the Text upper to the Error Code List.
"There is no 100% Error relation"
It is not a OBD related Car Processor wich tells you nearly excactly where to search for an error.
Sometimes the Error is coused from a complete other End of the Beomaster and the Testresult is just a followup Error.
TE 3 means that the uC "thinks" that PIN 31(DATALINK) is shortened to Ground because there are no Signals on the DATALINK Line for some reasons wich have to be searched for.
Never shorten one in the Error Codes mentioned PINs or any other PINs from the uC to Ground, you will seriously damage the uC if you are not absoloutely sure what you are doing.
If I'm wrong with my suggestions don't blame me just correct me ;-))
Best Regards
Christian
Hi Christian,
.....read instructions carefully !!
thank you for your clarification - first time I had to chase an error code on one of the BM8000 under my wing.
just did not have the SM at hand but back home I noticed the page before the error code table.....
now the real fun starts !!
once again - big thank you for pointing that out.
Hi everyone,
back on the job and news are just getting worse 😡
understand the error code table is not necessarily pointing the finger at THE problem itself !
i still suspect the error code should read TE3, all I can see however is T 3.....
there is no reaction from operating the keyboard. If the BM is plugged into the wall socket I can see the Standby dot but can not turn on nor running
the uP test routine.
after some plug in/out/in/out is eventually shows T 3.....nothing else is happening except I can hear the double click, measure the 5VDC, 15VDC and -15VDC on the voltage regulators.
no reaction on IC3 pin14 or 16 at all. Both uP do get about 4.83 VDC.
also checked 9D1 & 2 as the code table mentioned IC3 Pin31, datalink, short to chassis ??? but both measured fine.
absolutely no idea what happened except the awful suspicion the uP might be shot ?!!
if so, the job ends here if not.......more than happy to get some pointers or confirmation of my diagnose 🙄😥
as always, regards
Did you already change the Cap C35 10uF at the 5 V Regulator on right side of the BM 8000?
4.8 v on the uPC seems to be OK, near at 5 V would be better, 4,8V can be caused from Ripple on the 5V Rail Voltage
Had similar Problems with mine , after Change of C35 everything went fine aggain.
You wrote that you can here "click, click"...that doesn't mean that both Relais made teir Job.
One of the Relais is the "Currentlimiter" for the big Mains Transformator.
The second Relais switches the +-55V Railvoltage to the Poweramps.
If the Railvoltage is not present at the PA's don't try to bridge the Relais.
First you have to figure out what makes the trouble.
Can you measure the +-55V Railvoltage at the Poweramp PCB's.
Have a look to the Traces, dry Solderjoints ripped of Wires ,and Fault Detection on the PA PCB's, inspect the wires to the Power Transistors on the Heatsinks too, common problem the wires break while tangeling with the Powerampboards.
Good luck
thank you for your concerns and pointers.
the uP supply is actually closer to 4.87VDC.
the BM received a complete recap job incl C35 of course.
one of the main issues is/was that the uP is not functioning and I can only conclude the uPs are shot !
i can not even activate the uP test procedure.....no activity from the keyboard shows any reaction on any display.
connections incl solder joints have been checked over and over again - there was nothing to suggest a trouble source.
the crystals on the uP have been changed as well, following Sonavor & Beolovers procedure......no change.
work has until further notice been halted, probably for good.
perhaps some things don't want to be fixed 🙄 ? This unit has had a somewhat troublesome history for various reasons (unkown).
once again i appreciate your intent to help.....that is one of the great things on Beoworld.
