Hi.

I bought a second hand product B&O 6 touch remote a couple of months ago.

As I unwrapped my new beautiful product I realised the product was a lot more than just a remote control. It needed to be paired in a different way than other remotes, and was a lot more complicated to start up.

So I tried to solve the connections myself -  Big mistake..
As I tried to pair to BS 9000 and BeoSound 4 with my new product, suddenly none of my old remotes no longer worked  (BeO 4).

I think somehow I have changed the settings by mistake in my BS 9000 and BeoSound 4. Both of them made a "click" sound and turned off. Since then I have not been able to use any of my remotes which is quite annoying as time goes by.

Any suggestions to how I can connect my B&O 6 remote so that everything works again, thank you!

Your Beo6 is probably setup to put audio system in Option 0. Beo5/6 needs to be configured specifically to your products.

You need to set your 9000 and BS 4 to option 1 again.

How you do it depends on Beo4 or Beolink 1000.

Beolink 1000 you do it with the following presses on the remote.

Std.by -> Sound -> 1 -> Store

Beo4 you need to go into setup by pressing "std.by" and "List" at the same time, and press "List" until display shows "Option", then pres "Go" and "List" again until "A.OPT" shows, then press "1".

Hi.

I bought a second hand product B&O 6 touch remote a couple of months ago.

The remote will have been specifically programmed for the previous owner's specific setup and unless he happened to have a Beosound 9000 and Beosound 4 set up exactly as you do, the remote will not have all the correct settings and/or buttons on the screen. You will need to get hold of a copy of the Beo Configuration Tool and programme the remote yourself.

It is a fairly complicated process, with a steep learning curve, but very satisfying when you get it working.

Hi  Weebyx.

Just tried your advice - thank you very much for your help. My Beo4 remote now works again on both my B&O products. So fantastic after all the frustrations :-)

Do you have any ideas how to get my new beo 5/6 in "option 1" as my Beo4 remote?

Thanks again...

Hi Stoobie.

Thanks for your reply.
Yes, I believe you are right - it's a complicated proces. I think I will contact my local store for help or maybe try to find a solution om the internet..

There is a "standard" configuration built into your Beo6. If you press the small centre button and red dot button (with the blue on too) together, you will go into the setup menu. You'll see "config", press that and then choose "standard"  and store. You can revert to the custom one the same way. It will give you a basic control of TV, DVD, RADIO and CD. At least you can try to use it before it is updated.

If you have no wireless compatible Beo products I would also turn off WiFi in the same menu to help the battery stay charged longer.

Hi Stoobie.

Just tried to use your advise.

Thank you for that - it works fine for now. I will try to customise later on.

I second that. It's a very beautiful and intriguing object which happen to be very useful if well programmed.
It's hard at first and I'm still micro-tweaking mines, but i would be very lost if any should fail.

Matador

I am really enjoying mine. I have 2 Beo6 and one Beo5. I struggled to get the Beo5 working with Windows10 64bit so ended up downloading VMWare and installing XP SP3 in a virtual machne. Concentratin on the beo5 at the moment. trying to do macros but the configurator seems to corrupt the file sometimes.

Here are a cople of pics of the buttons and logos I'm workng on. I have added a zip file above with all my buttons so  far. Just unzip it to the images-logos-custom folder in the confugurator and you can go in and replace any buttons by going to properties>browse (to the custom folder) choose image>add image. I have only done the UK Freeview/HD logos (updated in January with latest logos) and some general buttons.

I'm lucky as I have a Philips Pronto which I can learn IR, I then am trying Jacob Rungwald's Third Party XML Generator on my iPad. All seems to work, but a bit slow having to swap between my ipad and PC. But worth it in the end.

Hi again.

Thanks for your answer - looks fantastic  Big Smile

Since I don't have any software to use for programming my second hand Beo5 - or knowledge for that matter, can you take med through the basics from start how to get it up and running?

I have searched the internet for a solution but the software that people often are referring to (links) no longer exists.

Found this danish guy rungwald.dk and his app, but does not know how to use it..

The software is very hard to find. Your Beo5 can only be programmed using a 32bit PC it will not work on a 64bit PC.

That Danish guy is Jacob Rungwald and developed theThird Party XML Generator that works on my iPad. That is useful if you have non B&O products. But you still need the configuration programme to put the Xml on to the Beo5.

There is very little you can do without the configuration programme so not much more advice I can offer at this stage.

If you go to this page you will find a download for the user manual which will give you an idea of what the programming is like. https://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/wikis/beo5-6/beo5-6-configuration-guide.aspx
