I'm having a new problem with my Beogram 3404. When hitting "start" the arm doesn't seem to be going far enough into the record to hit a groove. It then slides right off to the right. I have rebalanced the arm and it's not helping. I've even ramped up the weigh quite a bit to no effect. The needle is fine once manually placed on a groove with no skating. It also finds the end of the record just fine and auto-returns.
Is there a way to adjust this, possibly by just taking off the platter? Or is this a bottom removal job? This is what my sub-platter assembly looks like.
Yes, the set-down point can be adjusted using the excentrics under the platter. It's all in the servicemanual.Don't take anything apart.

I have the tech manual and the only thing I found relating to this problem is this. It doesn’t look like anything I can see under the platter when looking through the holes while rotating it. Can you be more specific about what part needs to be adjusted? What screw? Direction/amount/etc? Thanks!
Sorry, image didn't upload.
Well, since no one replied I set to work on this myself. I found a more complete service manual, since mine seemed to be missing pages, and located the exact screws to handle this. You can see them in the image. You need to remove the platter and stick a weight equal to that of a single or LP record depending on which set down point you want to tweak. Then turn the screw clockwise to make it more outward and counter clockwise to make it go further in. I tested it with 3 grams of screws taped to my arm so as not to put my stylus in jeopardy. Just hit play and see how much farther in either direction you need it to go. The adjustment screws are really hard to turn, so screw the platter's platform into place with the three lock screws first. You're going to need to press down hard and use a lot of careful force to get them to move.
