Last gasp ant trying to rescue a 1700 that does nothing but hum.  I have it partially assembled (cartridge removed ) to test continuity and I get good signal at the cartridge head on left hot and Earth (as the manual refers)only.  Other three I get nothing.  I carefully desoldered/resoldered the others but still no signal.  The tiny wires all seem good as the disappear into the tone arm.  I assume something is broken or shorted in the arm tube.  Is there an easy way to inspect the cables I can’t readily see or will I be taking the arm and wires loose to find a solution?

the tone arm looks like something I could easy destroy in the process? Are those hair thin wires replaceable even?

thanks.
