Hello I have a Beocenter 7002  which I use daily both to play records and listen to the radio. I am getting some scratchiness/inteference from the speakers but only when I play records, the radio is fine. I have checked the connections on the original B&O speakers and on the Center but they all look ok. Can anyone suggest what the problem might be? Could it be the stylus?

Thanks Richard

If the pickup is the original (or of that age), then it is likely the culprit. The unit probably needs other service too, such as new capacitors, trimmers and adjustments, though.

Welcome to Beoworld !

Most likely the cartridge.
First try a gentle cleaning, maybe under a microscope, to see if it's just dirt accumulated on the stylus.
Still no luck, replace the cartridge or have it retip'ed by Axel in Germany.

Thanks Johan and Martin, might have to buy a new stylus then.

Do you know of anywhere in the UK?

Thanks again Rich

The only producer, I know of, who makes NEW cartridges is Soundsmith in the US. You can check them out but if your cartridge is worn
but still producing sound, albeit distorted, I would recommend having it retip'ed by Axel. That will give you a superb sounding
cartridge at a fairly low cost.

I would back the Axel suggestion as well. You can upgrade the cartridge as well if you wish by changing the tip - I have the Shibata tip on a MMC20S and it is superb.
