Hello everyone.
I have just collected a pair of 5700 loudspeakers and they are currently at work while I work out how I fit them into my sitting room and then move on my current speakers (Acoustic Research AR55BX). Well, while I was picking them up the seller told me he had another pair which needed restoring and since I was there and had the car etc. etc. I bought those as well. I don't actually know why; I think I have an illness when it comes to audio equipment.
I bought them because I have heard that the mid range unit they use is very high quality and I had not heard a mid range dome before. I have looked over them and they seem incredibly well built. The cabinets are lovely and solid and beautifully finished but the drive unit arrangement looks a little strange and I wonder how they will image when mounted vertically.
They seem to have some new capacitors in the crossovers which is nice but is there anything else I should look out for before I install them ?
I plan to use them with a Marantz 2286B which delivers about 80W per channel. Will that be OK.
Does anyone know where I can find brochures or specification sheets and crossover information for them ?
I am really looking forward to hearing them.Greetings from the UK.
The 5700 is a rare sight in the UK. The 3800 was imported instead as there was a reduction in purchase tax as it was regarded as a semi-professional speaker because it had a very large woofer. (The tax man does not always know what he talking about - though the 3800 is rather good!)
Therefore you will struggle to get a lot on the 5700 looking in the UK though obviously European countries will have a lot more. Here is the spec.

And this is the crossover
Thank you Peter, that is very kind.
Lovely speakers - I had a set once back in the early 90's - they were great for Dance music and everyone who heard them was impressed.
