Hello! If I wish to record two programs simultaneously on a new Beovision 11, do I need to connect two antenna cables to the TV?I am running the cables in the wall now, and need to know before the wall is closed.Thank you in advance for your knowledge-sharing!RoMo.

The hard disk satellite module needs two lnb dish connections and records from the sat2 connection. The Freeview aerial connection seems to allow recording from two terrestrial channels but not simultaneous viewing from a third (unless it is satellite). So to answer your question you need two sat cables, one Freeview/ aerial connection, plus extra hdmi cables for other STB's, plus the two IR blaster cables that come with the TV.
I would double check what you are doing with your cabling with your dealer.

Is that really true that two antenna cables are required to record 2 shows simultaneously?
I have an external HD PVR (from Humax) currently which can record 2 shows at the same time and the PVR only needs a single antenna cable. I would assume that is the case with BV11 as well?

No.
Two sat cables and a double lnb dish, plus one terrestrial. You cannot view/ record two sat channels simultaneously without a dual lnb and two inputs.
Freeview/ terrestrial only needs one antenna for viewing and recording. The internal BV11 hard disk recorder comes with a sat and terrestrial module built in..... needing three inputs if you want to use all the available recording options. Obviously you can also use external STB's with IR blaster control.
Edit
I have not tried multiple simultaneous recording of several channels from just the terrestrial aerial tuner.
I have a Wbox connected to my BV10, as I didn't choose the overpriced internal one, that can't even show pay channels in Finland.
Anyway, the Wbox has one cable connected to the cable network, and I can record 2 channels and watch a third!
And the Wbox2 (mine is Wbox1) can record three channels and you can watch the fourth!
Too long to list....

As far as I can tell the internal module for the BV11 is designated 2T/C/2S. If you are relying on external boxes you can pretty much do what you like. There are two IR blasters supplied with the TV. The TV does have card slots. If you want a nice clean on the wall mounting with no STBs the internal disk/sat module (which is pre loaded with every broadcast satellite) is the way to go.

Yes Graham, but B&O didn't care to have the box certified by the broadcasting authority in Finland, so it won't work. Supposedly by my dealer, the certification costs about 15k euro. Now taking into consideration that the TV was 7K euro it's somewhat strange.
You can fit a pay TV card into the BV10 if you choose the sat/cable/terrestrial box, but you can only receive the free channels.
I guess it would be nice to know whether the OP was using an internal HD/ sat module and/ or whether he was mounting STBs on the back of the TV or remotely. Lots of possible cable options for the wall!
If he's gone for a hinge as suggested by his question in the BV11 motorised hinge thread then the TV mounted STBs will not be a consideration.
Thank yo all for your information sharing.
Yes it is a motrised hinge, so I am trying to skip all external boxes and just insert the program card in the desinated slot in the TV and use the internal HDD for recordings.

Required or not, there's not much sense in running two separate cables through the building. Just add a 3€ passive splitter behind the TV if needed.

Assuming, we are talking about satellite TV reception, I highly recommend to connect two antenna cables to a twin tuner.
You can watch/record two different channels with one cable (loopthrough), but they must be both on the same transponder. The antenna cables don`t just send audio- and video signals, they also switch between high/low band, vertical/horizontal position, and between dishes (if you have more than one) . Search "DiseqC" (Digital satellite equipment Control). There are tons of information in the www...
So, if you want your tuners work independantly from each other you must connect two antenna cables and a twin LNB to your dish.
And - as I can already hear people complaining about "outdated" and "overpriced" Beotechnology - this is NOT invented by Beo, this is simply how it works with all satellite products ( Humax, Technisat, Dreambox, Sagem...) all over the world.
Hope this helps
Stefan

This is a problem of the broadcasting providers. They don`t want to certify boxes, because they simply want to sell their "own" boxes.
They even "pair" their boxes to the smart card you buy, which means, the smart card won`t even work with your second TV box in the bedroom !!
The internal HD modul in my BV7 works fine with scandinavian pay-TV Canal Digital. It has a builtin Conax modul, which detects without problems all channels - SD and HD. It even works with my Smartwi cards, I can watch/record four different CD channels simultaneously on my main- and link BVs.
See: www.smartwi.net
No, sorry. I just tested with danish Canal Digital vis satellite on my BV7-40 MKIII, it has an inbuilt Conax modul.
I also have two Dreamboxes DM800 HD SE ,that I can highly recommend, they have inbuilt CAMs. I`m using them with scandinavian Peter Pan image.
