Hi I have just joined, so hope this isn't a repetitive request.

I've owned a Beomaster 1900 since new, a wedding present in 1977. It has been in the loft for the last 20 or more years.

I have recently set it up after leaving in room for a week and there are a few faults that need addressing.

All lights and touch pads work and all FM stations as well as tape input seem to work (I didn't try phono input)

FAULTS. Radio and tape very quiet at maximum volume.

Bass and Treble sliders seem to work, but crackle when moved.

Balance, very crackly and popping through speakers when operated. Volume was on max and crackling and popping was at full volume although music still quiet.

I would like to get this repaired as it is still quite a stylish amplifier.

I did work as an industrial electrician, but electronics is not my forte. So, I could have a go myself, if I knew what I was doing, but would prefer to have it repaired.

Can anyone help or offer any suggestions, I live in the north east, near Middlesbrough, but travel wouldn't be a problem.

Regards,

Eric

Potentiometers can be repaired. A kit exists for the DIY'er.
Capacitor kits and lamps kits are also available. PM or email me.
The volume problem could be caused by a bad balance potentiometer or a bad lamp in the volume control LDR-box.
