Hi

I have an issue with the front glass panel of a BeoSound 4. When I put my hand underneath it will slide open to show the control panel buttons and stay there. When I press load the glass moves to the fully open position but the glass immediately goes back down to the fully closed position. It won't stay open

Any ideas?

Ben

Hi

My father has same problem on BS4.

Never have find error.

Maybe it has something to do with small magnet on the side ?

Hi Marexy

I have looked at the service manual also saw the magnet. I know there is also a Tacho board so will have to open it on the weekend and see whats happening. I think it must be something that has gone out of alignment, like you say maybe the magnet. If I come right I will post what the solution is. It is quite strange though.

My father also had this problem with his BS4. Unplugging it for half an hour seemed to sort the problem initially. Although I know it has reoccurred.

It was unplugged for a couple of days and it didn't make a difference I'm afraid. They really use a complicated system to make the glass move.

I have seen that a couple of people have had the same issue but no one has ever posted what the remedy is. I am determined to fix it!

Please do post the solution if you find it. My father would be delighted.

I have no idea of the mechanics involved but presumably there is a sensor that stops the glass door closing if your hand is over the control panel. Could that be the issue?

I don't think its that sensor, its almost as if the motor doesn't register that the glass is fully open and it needs to pause, it just switches straight away to the closing mode. I will definitely post the solution if I find it.

Replace the belt. It's a timing issue.

It is definitely the belt. What happens is the belt is loose and the glass is heavy so when the glass reaches the top the belt can't hold the weight so the glass starts sliding down and the motor engages pulling the glass back to the bottom.

You must download the service manual, its quite a long process, have to take the entire Beosound apart.

Impossible without the manual.
