Beomaster 4500 Balance Issue

Just recently, my BM4500 plays no sound out of the left channel. The speaker is wired OK as the left speaker will play connected to the right channel output. Further adding to the mystery, in the Sound settings, the Balance display reads “_ _ E.0”. I cannot adjust the balance using the up or down arrows. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
