In my quest to multichannel from classical SACD and DVD-A / Blu-rays, is there any advantage of a Beosystem 4 + universal player over a OPPO-105. The former is an expensive way. Presumably, I can do channel levels and connect to the surround speakers and my front Beolabs just using an OPPO-105. What would a Beosystem bring to the show?

When you start getting into multichannel SACD music, there's quite a lot that the BeoSystem 4 can do. With the BeoSystem 4, you can re-assign the LFE channel to use a height speaker with the "ceiling" role. Also, there are some SACDs that use the center channel for a height speaker. Thus, you can create various speaker groups to use for the correct speaker configuration that the particular SACD requires.
