Hey all,

A guy brought me his 4400 to to repair. The main problem was that there were ton of cold solder joints. I fixed those and it came back to life. But now, the volume doesn't turn down one of the channels completely and the balance seems to work like more of a volume control. All the way to the right, there's low volume left and right. All the way to the left, both channels get louder. The weird thing is, when I turn on the linear switch, both volume and balance work fine. I've Deoxed all of the controls. Anyone know what would cause this issue?

Thanks

Matt

The linear switch routes the audio preamp signals around the tone controls, bypassing them, so I suggest debugging those (tone control) circuits. Perhaps still some bad solder connections in that path?  Did your replace all of the electrolytic capacitors in the Beomaster. If they are still original then they should be replaced.
