Hi all,

My dad has purchased a B&O 8500, which had issues with both the CD and Tape sliding drawers (Lids?).

We've stripped it down and discovered that both of the pulley systems were derailed. We've tried to put it back together, but hit a few snags along the way (like not knowing which way round to wrap the chord around the brass rod).

However, we've also discovered that one of the plastic lifter pieces has the captive 'V', which holds the knot on the chord, has snapped, so is now just a ' /' shape.

Does anyone have any of these parts spare, or know of where I could get one? B&O have said they are no longer available, and they don't seem to be listed on beoparts (I've emailed them anyway), but thought I would try here, too.

The Part in Question is Part number 3014088:

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Your best bet is to find someone who is breaking a donor set for parts - those from BC9000 and 9500 will fit also.

Are you in the States?  If so have you checked the following:

Hi, thanks for the reply!

No, I'm in the UK (Manchester), which literally double the cost of that section, when you include shipping. Plus, it almost seems wasteful purchasing the whole section, which someone else might be able to make better use of, for the sake of a small plastic lifter.

That's what I was hoping for from this forum - anyone who might be breaking down old units themselves and selling the parts.

If we can't find one, the options are pretty much attempt a repair using plastic or glue or getting something 3d printed.

So far, I've looked through ebay.de, ebay.com, ebay.nl, ebay.co.uk, and some B&O parts websites - No luck so far. A few as part of the larger unit, but always expensive.

At the moment, it can be used by manually retracting the doors, but it's a shame to not have the mechanisms working. The design of the whole unit seems to be based around that, so getting it working would be ideal. We still have a bit of a fiddly job to do in getting the other one to work, but I'm hopeful that we can get it going again.

Thanks again.

Yes definitely worth trying to fix it.  I am pretty sure that BC9000 and 9300 parts will also fit, so that widens the search.

Maybe try a UK repairer such as: https://www.avaservices.co.uk/index.html   I have used them for parts in the past. It's a long shot but they may have a donor unit.

Hi all,

Thank you for your help and advice! Martin has the part I need, and have already sent him the money for it.

Now to figure out which way round the pulley system works Laughing

Thanks again - Very much appreciated!

Chris
