Hi, I recently got a Beocord 1500 that had a lot of problems, but I have it pretty much functioning perfectly except the VU meters. The needles flick once when it's turned on, but that's all they do. I've tried turning all the little variable resistors inside one by one and nothing has made any difference.
Anyone know how to fix this?
You are aware, that the VU-meters are only active during recording? You now have a good couple of hours in front of you with the servicemanual and repairshop test instruments to do all the alignments...

Just to confirm, are you aware that the 1500's VU meters only work in 'Record' mode?
Wow I feel stupid haha, I had no idea. Problem solved, thank you!
I wonder has anyone rewired these to enable them to be used during playback too. Seems a shame with such nice vu meters out in front they don't move during normal playback
It would be a lot easier to just buy a Beocord 2400 - better deck, bigger meters and they work on playback!
