Hi,
I just connected my BeoLab 50 with Beosound Core using optical out.
The speaker does start when I chromecast yet no sound is coming out.
What am I missing?

Beolab 50, Beolab 8000 x 2, Beolab 4000 x 2, BeoSound Core, BeoSound 9000, BeoSound Century, BeoLit 15, BeoPlay A1, BeoPlay P2, BeoPlay H9 3rd Gen, BeoPlay H6, EarSet 3i, BeoVision Eclipse Gen 2 55", BeoPlay V1-40, BeoCom 6000 and so much else :)
I believe everything is set to work correctly. The cable is from AudioQuest, so I don't think the quality is the issue. I tried 48khz and nothing. I even performed factory reset on my core.
You could eliminate the possibility of a defective Core (assuming that optical input to the BL 50 works when connected to another source), by trying to connect the BL 50 using the Powerlink output. If that works, then there is something wrong in the signal being sent from the Core to BL 50.
B&O in my life 😊:
Ok, finally got it to work! But I notice that the overall sound is much brighter than through power link

FWIW, I have noticed this as well. This is with or without B&O products. My assumption is that the difference is in the DAC. With Powerlink you are using the Core’s DAC or the sources DAC, with optical you are using the BL50’s DAC.

Hi, Have also noticed a brighter sound with my Auralic Aries G1 connected to my BL 50 (with digital coax cable) when comparing sound from Eclipse with powerlink-cable to BL50.
Some music sounds better with the Digital IN from Auralic and some music sound better from Eclipse with powerlink to BL 50. I think it is a matter of taste. Some female vocals is to shrill from the Auralic but sounds really good from Eclipse to BL 50. But some classical music sounds better with the Auralic (digital IN to the BL 50).
Best regards
Martin

seethroughyou:Powerlink is analogue whereas coax or optical is digital. The powerlink level is probably set at a slightly lower volume/voltage then it will sound more mellow/calmer than digital. The lower level of the analogue through coax is captured by the ADAC before being going to the DAC and DSP in the BL50/90. No such volume information going down through SPDIF/optical.
lawrencejmcook:BeoSound Core can output digital to a BeoLab 5 (via optical to electrical converter) and still control the BL5s’ volume via the Powerlink control signal wires (fully wired cable needed). Has anyone tried to configure their BL50s to do the same? If B&O don’t currently offer this possibility, I think it would be a useful feature, as Michael suggested. Lawrence
How did you make it work? I have the same issue.
Hi and sorry to interrupt you, but I have now the same problem can you please tell me how you got it to work.. Thanks.
/Klaus
Hej Henrik.. Jeg har samme problem, og kan se du ikke rigtigt har fået noget svar har du fået det løst og evt. hvordan.?
På forhånd tak.
Would you be kind to share how you got it to work?
I have the same problem. It all working but after the last auto update to 1.12 there is no optical sound.
I use BL50 with core.
Hi
I have seen the same behavior with Core and my BL50/BL20 connected via Toslink on the latest Core firmware 1.12.47108 - as a work around you can downgrade to “48 kHz” from “96 kHz” in the “optical-out” setting menu in BS Core.
