Hi guys,

I was lucky enough (with the help of a friendly member from Beoworld, to get my hands on a Beogram 5500.
This is my first tangential deck and it was a magic moment to see it move after repairing it (again with the help from Beoworld). I've paid it cheap, and as Dillen used to say once "since you saved money on the deck, you can invest on the cartridge". And this what i wantto do. Sianec my financial wingspan is still limited I 'm aiming at an MMC4, lets say around 250 euros max shipping included.

I've read a lot in this forum and now I must say I'm a little lost: lots of advices but also old and some solution not available anymore. The three solution i've found are:

1-Soundsmith SMMC4 - Around 200 Euros shipping Inclued.
Looks perfect, but I've read good and bad about them. And the fact they dont accept returns makes me uncomfortable (not to mention the harsh way they have to justify this).

2-tonabnehmerservice - MMC5 restored but seems to have MMC4 specs - 225 Euros S.I.
Again, I've read good and bad. Seems to be a former partner from the famous Axel, but no track of an actual client of him on BW.

3-Pickupandneedles - more than 300 Euros. I dont know what to think of them. No tracks either.

My listening need are average: sit down from time to time, put a record, watch the deck move and enjoy the music. I'm not a apecialist nor need stellar performance. But i would also like to make a good choice to enjoy this the best i can.

Thanks to anyone who will help.

As an aside, has anyone any experience of Audio Origin in the UK? http://audio-origin.co.uk/

Given that I have a handful of MMCs that need rebuilding, and they are only about 25 minutes away from where I live, I suppose I really ought to "shop local" and give them a try myself.

If I'm not mistaken, the guy who runs Audio Origin is also member of that forum.

The Soundsmith website says they provide a full 2 year warranty, with free re-tipping in that period if there is an issue. Where did you get the information that they did not have a warranty?

Didn't say the don't have warranty, I've said they dont accept returns and that I find the way thet tell it... Rude.
After reading a lot of different reviews on Beoworld I want to be able to return the cartridge it if I'm not satisfied with the sound of it.
