I have a beomaster 6500 which I bought in 1989. The system was last used in about 2006.The CD works, which is good and the sound is great.
Master Control Panel. The batteries had an End date of 2012. Cleaned out the corrosion and new batteries on the way. Hope it will work, only one way to find out.
beogram 6500. The turntable turns but the MMC2 stylus has been damaged and needs replacing. I am planning to get an SMMC3 from Sound-Smith. Is this a good choice.??
It will be used to play a selection of LP's from the 70's through to the 90's.
All advice appreciated
A Warm Welcome to Beoworld..
As you talk about the CD and the Beogram 6500, then you would have purchased a Beosystem 6500 which comprises four units plus the Master Control Panel. The Beomaster 6500 part of the system is the radio and amplifier.
If you do have a complete Beosystem 6500 which includes the Beocord 6500 cassette tape deck, then you will need to replace the belts in it as well as the Beogram 6500 even if the turntable does turn.
Regards Keith....
Yes I have the Beosystem 6500, 4 units plus the control panel. I will get new belts for cassette tape deck and the turntable. I will get the SMMC3 stylus from Sound-Smith - I assume I can get the new belts from them as well. I assume the instructions for fitting the new belts will come with the belts.
Thanks Keith
You should get the belts from HERE
Replacing the Beogram record deck is quite straight forward, but the Beocord cassette deck needs a little more skill.
Also be aware that the cassette deck tape unit has two versions, one uses three belts and the other only uses one. The units are quite different. If your tape unit uses three belts, then you can look HERE for help on how to change them.
