As a youngster (which I once was) I lusted after the B&O components I'd see in High Fidelity, Stereo Review and other audio magazines.
At last, I've recently acquired a Beosound 9000 CD player and a Beogram 8000 turntable. They came with a Beomaster 2400 receiver, but, if only for space reasons, I want to hook them into my existing vintage system (McIntosh separates, Fisher 500C) and use my own DAC (Cambridge DacMagic Plus or Schiit Modi Multibit) with the CD player. (No remote, but I'm hoping I can get another remote to "learn" B&O language.)
The problem is, when I use the coax digital output on the Beosound plugged into the DacMagic I get no sound at all. Am I approaching this correctly? The 8000 came with an adapter (DIN to stereo RCA plugs), but I don't know how or if that might work for the CD player.
I read elsewhere that I might need a "dummy plug" of some kind for the Master Link connection. If so, can you tell me what that is, how it works, and how would I obtain one? Is there a better way?
Thanks so much for your patience with a B&O noob!
B&O equipment: Beomaster 2400, Beogram 4004, Beogram 8000, Beogram 8002, Beogram TX2, Beosound 9000 MK II
Should be able to plug Coax (SPDIF) without using any other connections other than power. This is what I do.
