Hi everyone, new joiner with my first b&o bit of kit (first paycheque out of uni well spent, i think Laughing) after a hit and a miss on ebay..

Managed to get a Beomaster 5500 and  Beogram 5005 for relatively decent prices and i've noticed that there are a few things on my BM5500 that requires some attention. Here's what i've noted after investigation in the last couple of days:

1) Consistent humming when BM on stand-by (and when switched on)

2) High register noise from both speaker channels (volume of "hissing" increases with volume of the system) (note, I'm connecting my active speakers to the pre-amp outs)

3) Along side the "hissing" when volume of the system is turned up, I can hear from the speakers what I can only describe as the transmission signal when I switch through the functions. I.e. an audible "beep" when I press the CD / Aux / Phono button on my beolink 1000.

I did a fair bit of browsing in the forums and saw a post or two with similar problems as I've listed above, and with fixes which are certainly doable. Also read through a post by tournedos regarding how to do perform a service (here). This being said, as much as i would love to fix my BM with my own two hands, i'm certainly not qualified or confident enough for the job.

I was wondering if there's anyone in and around Cardiff, Wales who is willing to take a look at my machine for a reasonable price. Somewhat hesitant to post it to prevent it from further damage. If it can be fixed and stay healthy for a good number of years, I can always dip into a bit of my savings (hoping I won't need to buy another hifi set up for a good number of years..)

Have a chat with Ron and Beorepairs.com He services, troubleshooted my Beogram 8002 recently.

Great comms, videos, pictures and a modest bill.

He is in Swansea. The only caveat is your machines may be too late for him to repair as he does not hold spare parts for post 1985 equipment.
