Greetings, everyone!
My apologies for writing this question here, and for appearing completely clueless... at home, for years, I have always had a Beogram 4002 (professionally tended to, since again I am clueless LOL), however I wanted a lower-cost turntable for my office. I liked the simplicity of the Beogram 1800, however I have never owned any of the standard-tonearm B&O turntables. The only thing I knew how to do was correctly set the counterweight for the correct tracking force for the MMC cartridge. (I followed the steps in the Beogram 1800 Owner's Manual).
However, I do have an issue and I am having trouble finding anything online... - when I press play on the front, the tonearm swings into position, but will not lower until I manually touch the Cue button... then it lowers, and plays perfectly. However, I was under the assumption that after a record is placed, pressing the front play button would start playback automatically. Am I doing something wrong, or is something broken? I just purchased this as "mint" from a dealer (came beautifully packaged in the original carton, like B&O intended - cartridge separate, platter, etc.) and it does look and sound pristine. Do I need to live with having to manually press cue each time to lower the tonearm, or is there a (potentially?) easy fix to this? I paid a premium price to get a mint one, and would hate to have overspent...
I truly appreciate any and all comments/suggestions/ideas, and I thank you very much!
Warm regards,
Michael
Everyone, since I hadn't heard from anyone regarding any ideas, I did a cleaning of the control board, and sure enough the issue just went away. Now, when hitting play on the front of the plinth, the stylus goes into the lead-in groove and drops normally.
Happy New Year to everyone!
