I’m curious whether the Essence can be linked to the beovisions? To turn the television on/off? To join audio streams? How does it work?

An Essence Mk2 can be linked to the newer BVs.

These newer BV's essentially have an Essence built into them.  You can join audio streams by using the app, or using a remote just like any two modern B&O NetworkLink enabled devices (BS1, BS2, BS35, Essence, etc.).  If you select the TV audio source from your Essence, it will turn on the TV.  You can then use the app to control the TV using the remote control screens that are embedded in the app.

The key limitation is that the audio from the TV is slightly delayed when distributed to the other devices.  This is similar to the delay that happens when distributing sound from the Essence's line-in.  It makes it annoying if you can hear the TV and Essence speakers at the same time.

Thanks, that’s helpful. Does it “join” or just turn it on? Assume i’m watching television, can i just turn it off via the wheels and it closes and turn off?

Not true if you use B&o own Multiroom. Then there is no delay.

Please elaborate? the Essence and the noted BV can be JOINED, but can not be "intergrated" like the BV11.

Start: all are on st.by.

Start a source on the Essence

Now the BV can be JOINED by sending this command to the tv (on a remote) or go the double square icon on the app and hit the + behind the BV. The TV starts and will join the source played on the Essence.

I can confirm that Carolpa is completely right!

With the first generation of the NL BV’ (Avant/BV11/V1...) you could integrate the Essence MK2 to be a part of the BV.

When you think about how the BV’s that you mention work, it is obvious that this is not needed anymore, since these audio functions alrady are a part of the BV.

Being able to use the ‘Join’ function there however, is very handsome.

What is "B&o Multiroom"?  I have an Eclipse and whenever I join my Essence or BS2 when playing a TV source, there is an audio delay.  How do I eliminate this?

Just to clarify, there is no delay when listening to music sources (Spotify, TuneIn), but there is a delay when joining with a TV program.

Thanks,

Stan

You need to go into the configuration of the Essence in the B&O app and select the BV in the "Link to Other Products" page (Product Settings -> Configure -> Settings -> BeoLink -> Link to Other Products).  Then, when you go into the circle volume screen of the app for the Essence and select the dots (...), the BV's source as well as the Essence sources are listed.  Select one of the BV sources and the TV powers on and starts playing the selected source along with the Eclipse.

You can also configure any of the BV sources to be in the "In Local List" so that you can select the source by pressing the "source selector" of the wheelie remote (top circle).  This is found at Product Settings -> Configure -> Your Content -> Sources -> In Local List

A long press on the wheel's off button (assuming you're talking about an Essence remote as the "wheel") will turn off both the BV and the Essence.  A short press turns off the Essence.

That is the description for being ‘connected to’.

’Integrated with’ means that a product, like the Essence MK2 would use the speakers of the tv (and have none attached to itself).
In the app it would show up as part of the BV (e.g. a BV11) and all controlling will be through the BV, as if the Essence was built-in to it. You can use the Beoremote for accessing these sources (or the app).

’Connected to’ simply means that you can access the sources of the Essence from the BV. (You can even have a second audio product or a Beolink Converter....‘connected to’ the same BV.).
Respectively, that you can access the sources of the BV (And even those of yet another BV in your setup), when ‘connected to’ the Essence.

If you do a (google) search for: multiroom handout pdf bang & olufsen it should be fairly easy to find a document/a pdf with more information on this.

Correct.

But this is the opposite: the BV is integrated with the Essence. But why would you do it this way around?
