Hi,
I have a B&O 7000 CD player and 7000 receiver driving a pair of penta mk2. I have a audioengine bluetooth receiver connected to A tape which works perfectly for the TV and playing music from my phone.
I have just bought a technics sl10 turntable with mc310 cartridge and tried connecting it to my receiver. First I tried connecting it to the phono din on the receiver and the sound was very feint and tinny. I read that perhaps I should use another of the line ins so I moved it to Tape 2. It is still very feint and tinny.
Am I doing something wrong?

The Beomaster 7000 does'nt usually have a RIAA preamp fitted to the phono input,although it could be retro fitted,but they are very rare nowaday's.
The matching Beogram 7000 had an integral RIAA preamp.
You could connect your Technics turntable to the BM7000,but you will need a pre-amp.
Does the designation MC310 mean that your pick up is moving coil,rather the the usual moving magnet?
If so,you will need a preamp designed for that spec.

Yes, that's a Technics brand moving-coil (most also P-mount) cartridge, which had a hollow Boron cantilever made with a vapor deposition process! It is still considered a very fine example of a vinyl pickup, with excellent high-frequency reproduction. It deserves a quality phono preamp.
P.S. Here on beoworld.org people note that two Beogram turntables (4002, 6000) are in the Museum of Modern Art (NY) collection. Well, so are two Technics turntables: the SL1200 and... the SL10!
Thank you for the reply. I’ve done some research and read the instruction manual for the turntable. It seems there is a step up button so that you can plug it into the MM phono on amps with a phono stage. As not many have an MC phono stage.
I am now researching phono stages. Any recommendations? I’m in the U.K. and Graham Slee get good reviews. The Lehman cube also. There are so many to choose from. I’d like to keep the budget under £300. I love the sound from my B&O system and want to do it justice. The turntable too.

Ask google.com "site:beoworld.org graham slee" and you'll see folks here like them. They are pricey, though. The results will be a little off of your exact question because the B&O cartridges are MMC ("Moving Micro-Cross"), which is more like MM than like MC. Certainly using an MC->MM "step-up board" in the Technics will be worry-free in theory, because external MM phono preamps are cheaper and no fiddling with MC impedance matching. But a purist would prefer straight wires from the cartridge to an MC phono preamp. Maybe check out various turntable forums -- the Technics board might be a gem, or you might even find out that its MC adjustments are a black art with no manufacturer's spec for the matching impedance to use -- thus *only* that step-up board will do? (But I don't have any first-hand knowledge -- my non-B&O linear turntable is not a Technics -- it's the less-well-regarded stackable Sony PS-FL7-II !)

The Lime tree phono stage arrived today. Set it to 400r MC the right setting for the MC310 cartridge according to the Sl10 experts. Set the turntable to MM (bypassing the step up). Sounds great through the Pentas. Its a very small and light box. Nice understated yellow led lights. Just sits there doing it’s job inconspicuously. Now to start saving for a Beogram 4000.
