Beovision Avant DVD 32 - Menus not working???

Hi All, we just picked up this set for my Son's retro game consoles.

TV powers up, HT, degauss and audio OK and we can select the console using SAT on the remote.

However if I press the MENU button I get the relevant menu pop up but I am unable to select anything with the remote control? Also, if we load a DVD, when the DVD language menu loads the set won't accept any commands from the remote? This means we're unable to adjust the picture settings or screen position etc.

I've opened up and checked the remote control with an oscilloscope to ensure all buttons transmit IR so I know the remote is OK.

I am able to move UP/DOWN in the menu using the SEL buttons on the TV but it doesn't allow me to select anything.

Is there a way of performing a service reset or similar? Has anyone had similar experience with these sets?
