Hi -
On a TX2 turntable, the front panel "Play" button has been acting up (for years). Here's what happens most of the time: I hit the button once and the player behaves has if I hit it twice in succession, i.e., it goes into "repeat mode"; the 33 indicator light flashes and it starts playing... only to repeat at the end of the side. This is what happens 95% of the time. Once in a while it does what it's supposed to: I push the button, the 33 indicator light stays solid instead of flashing, and the player executes single play mode. Anybody else had this troubling front panel "Play" button problem? Anybody else been able to fix it? Note: I had my player overhauled at significant expense some years ago, but the pros didn't fix the issue. All help/guidance much appreciated.
Note: I just got another TX2 and, mercifully, it does NOT have the front button problem. One push = one play (so far, at least). Phew!
For anybody else who might experience this problem, the fix was incredibly simply. I found that the tape covering the switch had broken through in a couple of spots. Replacing the tape made the problem go away.
