Is it true that unlike any other CD player in the free world that the CD goes in shiny side UP?.

In Beogram CD50 the disc should be inserted label-side down (shiny side up), that's correct.

There where quite a few Pioneer CD players that also required to put the CD upside down onto a stable platter mechanism:

Quite a few did that "back in the day". It had a lot to do with safety fears over lasers and eyes so the laser points down Big Smile

Built on what was probably an Aiwa chassis. Much noisier in use than the later 5500.

Many thanks to the B&O experts out there! I truly love the B&O stuff but am learning quickly that I’ll fair better by working on my precise soldering skills and schematic deciphering!
