Dear friends of B&O

About 14 years ago I purchased a full Beosystem 5500 from it’s first owners. The couple got the set as a wedding gift. Their families in law must have been keen on the newly acquired family extension.

I used the system a lot in the beginning. But after moving house and starting family life it was moved away from the living and slowly, I regret to say, it became neglected.

A recent update of the living proved there was no future for this icon in my daily life. I therefor decided not to do a full service overhaul, but sell.

Look at the picture. It deserves a new start.

Technical details

Mmc4 needs replacement, mechanically the beogram is good.

The Beogram cd 5500 is fully operational.

The beomaster has an imbalance in power/ volume on one channel.

The Beocord needs new belts. Drawer opens and closes normally.

Mcp5500 unknown state. I’ve always used a bl1000.

All in all some work to be done and definitely some cleaning.

Optically the set is really good. I’ve taken the beogram to a dealer (to check the mmc4) and he confirmed the optical state to be one of the better ones he’d seen.

I, with my critic sense spot scratches. But if I’d have as little scars 30 years from now as this bs5500 has accumulated in the past 30 years, I’d be a star in a cosmetics commercial. I’m no star. This Beosystem 5500 is though. A true icon.

I’m looking for about 350-400€. Preferably sold together as a set.

Preferably local pickup in the Netherlands, halfway between Rotterdam and Antwerp. 2 hours drive from Lille or Köln.

Please send a PM if you are interested. I have more pictures but I experienced sever difficulty uploading from iphone into the forum. Also unable to add multiple pictures in this post :-(

There is an accompanying stand that I will list separately, as it may interest a different audience.

Thanks for reading this little history of my Beosystem 5500. Sander
