I have an issue with my center channel speaker, Beolab 4000. The status light stays red when I turn on my Beosystem3. All the other Beolab speakers, fronts and rears, turn green. My workaround is to pull the power plug off the 4000 and then plug it in - then it turns green.

Any help is highly appreciated what's causing this issue.

Thanks and cheers!

Hi Andy,

the first thing that comes to mind is to ask which version of BL4000 do you have? MKI or MKII? The MKI version has an RCA line input jack, the MKIIs do not.

The MKIs have a problem with some internal damping material (foam rot) that can cause some issues. Serial numbers lower than 18xxx I think are susceptible.

Search the forum for foam rot to get the details.

I have the MKI (with power switch at front and RCA line input jack). I have cleaned the foam rot and not bad the way it looked. However, when I tested Fuses F3 and F4, F4 is open and F3 is not. So, it looks like I need a fuse. where can I source the fuse? It is marked T 63mA.

Thanks for the help.
