Hi all,
I figured out the problem but I'll need to get access to a Beo4 to solve it.
Problem: I bought a BeoVision 1 LS which came with a Beo1 remote. While I was tweaking the TV geometry in the service menu I selected reset to default. When I did this the Beo1 remote stopped working.
Solution: According to the BV 1 LS manual, choosing Reset to default changes the link option setting to 6. It also states that only the Beo4 remote can change the option setting. According to this thread the Beo1 remote doesn't work on option 6, it needs option 1.
-----UPDATE-----
I got the TV to turn on using the Beo1 remote by doing the following:
This seems to put my Beo1 into some kind of Beo4 mode (which is why it works with option 6) and limits what you can do as it doesn't have most of the Beo4 buttons. I can turn on/off, change volume, get into the TV menu which is missing options like rotating etc and the service menu. I can't change TV inputs so it's RF only for now.
There HAS to be a way to change the option setting with a Beo1 remote, it makes no sense!
-----UPDATE 2-----
I bought a Beo4 remote off Facebook and it seems to have broke in transit. It wasn't packaged very well. There's no sign of life at all even though it looks to be in great condition. The guy claims it was working before and has another one (in worse condition) which he says he'll send when I return this one.
I opened it and can't see anything obviously wrong nor does it look like anything broke or is likely to break if it was dropped. I'm tempted to re-solder the wires connected to the battery compartment but I'm no expert and with my luck it'll catch on fire.
I wish I bought a Retrotink instead, curse you Brexit!
