All

I have installed CT 6.00 on a Windows7 32 bit set-up.The tool is very unstable and crashes often. This usually happens either at start-up, or when reaching the logo section.

Any suggestions how to resolve this?

You and Jan appear to be having problems running the Configuration Tool version 6.0 which needs to be identified, so I would ask you please to provide the following information:-

  1. How much memory do you have installed in your PC/laptop ?
  2. Are there any other user programmes running at the time of the failure ?
  3. Are there any error messages displayed either from the program or Windows ?
  4. Have you viewed the Windows "Event Log" for errors and warnings ?
  5. Does your Windows PC/Laptop have all the Microsoft updates installed ?

To review the "Event Log" on Windows 7 Click START then CONTROL PANEL then SYSTEM AND SECURITY then under the heading at the bottom marked "Administrative Tools" click VIEW EVENT LOGS as shown below

Keith

Today I have been able to work with the config tool without any problems or crashes.

What changed? I did two things, but am not sure which one has solved my problems. First I re-installed the USB driver. Secondly, I am running the CT tool in compatibility mode (compatible with XP Service Pack 2).

Maybe this is info is useful for other users too!

Regards,

Jan

Thank you for your update Jan.

I would say that the issue was resolved with the USB driver as this is the most common area where problems exist.

The error shown in the previous posting from the Windows error log shows an "Unhandled Exception" meaning that an error occured in the application, but the configuration Tool did not have any error handling for that particular error condition and so was trapped by the operating system.

So, we really had two problems the error itself which may be USB driver related and a software problem in the configuration tool for not catching the error condition and reporting it to the user.
